What is the difference between driver education and driver training?

Driver education is completed in a classroom. The DMV requires 25 hours of driver education cover topics in the California Driver Handbook as well as other aspects of defensive driving. Driver training is behind-the-wheel training received once a minor has her/his provisional permit.

How old must I be in order to obtain my permit?

The minimum age for a provisional driver permit is 15 and a half years. The law changed from 15 years on January 1, 2004.
